Aijaz Khan is a Mumbai-born filmmaker from a distinguished cinematic lineage. His father, a veteran director and an assistant director on the iconic film "Mother India," his uncles, Nariman Irani and Anwar Siraj, renowned cinematographers, have significantly contributed to Indian cinema. Additionally, his grand aunt, the celebrated Urdu writer Ismat Chughtai, has left an indelible mark on Indian literature.
Aijaz's filmmaking career commenced with directing and producing commercials for prominent brands. His feature film debut, "The White Elephant" (2009), garnered recognition at the International Film Festival of India. His subsequent films, "Baankey Ki Crazy Baraat" (2016) and "Hamid" (2018), showcased his versatility as a filmmaker. "Hamid," a critically acclaimed film set against the backdrop of conflict in Kashmir, earned two National Film Awards, thereby making Aijaz the third generation in his family to receive this prestigious honor.
In addition to his feature films, Aijaz has directed episodes of the acclaimed web series "Out of Love." and "Durange.", at present he is working on his 2nd Kashmir feature film "Tehrir" and has almost completed his Malayalam film, "Dvija," a period love story set in Kerala and Benaras.
As an ardent cinema lover, Aijaz is deeply passionate about cinema and is known to watch a diverse range of films across genres and countries. His interests also extend to fitness, photography, and exploring innovative ideas.
