Lauren Beatty is an award-winning Canadian actor, director, writer, producer, and musician. She is a proud member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and tends to gravitate towards work made by, and created for, her community.
'SOAP’, Beatty's sophomore short film, which she co-wrote, co-produced, and stars in, made its festival rounds worldwide in 2023 and was awarded 'Best LGBTQ Short' at Indie Short Fest in Los Angeles. Lauren is also the front-woman of Blush, a queer 90's-inspired pop-punk band in Toronto, and in her spare time she enjoys directing projects for friends and fellow musicians.
Lauren is the co-founder of Humblecore.ca, an independent production company producing comedy sketches which have garnered attention at 'Toronto Sketch Fest' two years in a row. One of which, ‘TIFF Woman’, went viral locally in 2022 and landed her a lead role in Mo Matton’s short comedy/drama ‘Gender Reveal’, which had its world premiere at Locarno Film Festival (2024) in Switzerland and its Canadian premiere at TIFF (2024).
Her other Film & TV credits include ‘Rocket Fuel’ (Edge Entertainment), ‘Boston Blue’ (Jerry Bruckheimer TV), ‘Really Happy Someday’ (Spindle Films), Pay The Ghost' (Voltage Pictures), 'Jigsaw' (Tricycle Productions), 'Flashpoint' (Pink Sky), 'Bleed With Me' (BWM Productions) & 'Bloodthirsty' (Voice Pictures/775 Productions) a two-time Canadian Screen Award-nominated feature in which Beatty also sang all lead vocals. Her performance in 'The Last Day', a short film she wrote and acted in, earned her Best Actress at the Toronto 48hr Film Festival (2019). Her work has been written about in Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times, Indiewire, and The Guardian.
