Biography

Christopher Tempel is an independent feature film director whose career spans more than two decades of filmmaking, from ultra-low-budget productions to professionally financed features.

In 2007, Tempel shot his first feature film, the ultra-low-budget slasher "Wulf", for just $600. Two years later, he shot his second feature, "Leap", on a consumer MiniDV camcorder. These early productions served as a training ground for feature filmmaking, leading to "Leap: Rise of the Beast" in 2010, which he produced for just $2,000. The film was shot on a Canon Rebel T2i using only the camera's kit lens.

Tempel later served as VFX Supervisor on the documentary series "The Days of Noah".

Tempel is the owner of Pyro Studios, a full-service production company based in northwest Montana, serving clients across the United States. In 2023, he returned to the "Leap" series with "Leap: A Tale of the Last Days".

In 2026, Tempel was hired to direct "Able to Stand", marking a new stage in his career as a feature film director. With a production budget of $100,000, it is also the largest production he has directed to date.

When he's not making films, Tempel enjoys backpacking with his wife and dog, practicing parkour, and exploring the outdoors. He is a black belt in American Kenpo and a licensed skydiver.
