Born in Havana, Cuba, and raised in New York City. A graduate of Manhattan College with a bachelor's degree in International Affairs. She received a coveted internship at the United Nations where she researched and edited periodicals for the Department for Disarmament Affairs. Marlyn spent several years traveling between Italy, France, and the United States where she absorbed the different cultures and lifestyles.
