Biography

Jared Barel is a filmmaker, illustrator, designer, and graphic novelist. He is the owner and founder, along with his brother, Jordan Barel, of Loaded Barrel Studios, an award winning publisher of comics and graphic novels and the production studio behind Jared's film work. Jared is an accomplished director, screenwriter, cinematographer, editor, animator, and producer. He has worked on a plethora of major label and independent music videos, features, short films, trailers, documentaries, and industrials.

Jared is the artist and writer for the award winning graphic novels GREY and BRIELLE AND THE HORROR published by Loaded Barrel Studios.

"Live-Action Graphic Novel" is the phrase that Loaded Barrel Studios uses to describe Jared's unique art stylings in which every panel on every page of his comics are set up and shot like a film on digital stills with live actors, props, costumes, etc. and then converted into the "comic" art that you see in the book through a fusion of traditional and digital illustration, photo manipulation, and computer generated imaging to create a visual experience unlike any other.

Jared received his B.F.A from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in Graphic Design and his M.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts M.F.A. Design Program - where his thesis design project was a short film... go figure.
