Biography

Born in Reading Pennsylvania in 1980, Ross moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1994. He first discovered Muay Thai at the age of 14 when he saw a match on ESPN. He spent his teen years in a fog of drinking and partying. Ross had always dreamed of being a fighter and at the urging of a close friend, he looked into Muay Thai but thought it required too much of a commitment. When that same friend died at 18 years old, the shock sent Ross spiraling out of control and into a life of alcohol addiction that would last for four years.

In 2003, a series of events became the fuel for turning his life around. One of his partying friends was involved in a car accident while driving under the influence, another put himself through the windshield of a car while doing the same thing. Ross himself was pulled over for driving over 100 mph in an emergency lane. While drinking one night with then-girlfriend, Gina Carano, he felt his life was going nowhere and decided to make a change. He quit drinking, cold turkey, walked into a kickboxing gym the next day, and began training with Master Toddy. Nine months later Ross had his first fight in Salt Lake City, Utah. The opponent he was to face didn't show so he took the only other available opponent. He was outweighed by 20 pounds and lost the fight when his corner threw in the towel.

Never backing down from a fight has become his signature. He is ranked as one of the best kickboxers in the world.

He fights under the moniker "The Soul Assassin.".

Women's MMA pioneer, Gina Carano has publicly credited Ross for introducing her to Muay Thai. He helped train her in that sport as well as MMA. He appeared with her on an episode of Warrior Nation on MSNBC (2007) as she was training for one of her first fights.

Ross has fought over 80 times and has a win over Malaipet "The Diamond" Sasiprapa, considered one of the greatest in the sport.

Ranked one of the top Super-Lightweight (140 lbs, 63.503 kg.) Muay Thai fighters in the world by the WBC.

He has won the Super Lightweight WBC International Championship Title, Welterweight WBC USA National Championship Title, FIDAM Welterweight Championship of Mexico, USMF Welterweight Champion, and was named the 2010 Muay Thai North American Fighter of the Year.

I always come to put on a show. I'm not walking in there to boost my own ego. I like to put on a show for the fans. They pay good money. I want it to be exciting and I'll never back up, I'll never quit, so you can always expect that from me.

[on Gina Carano] I think people look at her and don't think she's a fighter because of her perfect face, and that kind of goes to her advantage because then they think that she's not as good... and then she just kicks their butts.

I was an alcoholic back when I was younger. Muay Thai really saved me from that, saved my life really. I don't think I'd be here anymore if it wasn't for Muay Thai. Just getting over that was a huge hurdle. Having something to focus on like this just totally took me out of that world and gave me something positive to look at, and I totally just poured myself into this lifestyle.

Knowing that I'm doing what I love and what I feel I was put on this earth to do, totally takes away all that fear of failure, getting injured, or maybe not making it to where I want to make it to... because all that stuff's just extra.

If you have passion for whatever it is... another person, a career, a hobby. That's what it's about. It'll keep you going through all the ups, the downs, the injuries, the lack of money. The ups and the downs... they're going to come no matter what you do so you better find something you're passionate about to get you over those hurdles.
