Trivia

Andrew Napier

  • In elementary school Andrew directed a feature length action film called "Sledge". The plot: Al Capone took scientifically altered super steroids, escaped Alcatraz, and started robbing banks in a ski mask with a sledge hammer.
  • At age 7, Andrew taught himself how to edit video on his Dad's home computer using Final Cut Pro (after he finished shooting his first film).
  • Began filming the feature documentary "Mary and Bill" at the age of 15. He finished it as a senior in high school and released it when a freshman in college.
  • Started interning for "The Young Turks" in October of 2009. After working 6 months for free, Andrew was hired as a director, producer and editor for "The Young Turks" in 2010. He was the youngest person to ever be hired by "The Young Turks". While working there for four years, Andrew filmed behind the scenes which eventually led to his award-winning feature documentary "Mad As Hell".
  • Produced the Academy Award®-winning short film "Curfew" at age 22. However Andrew was not hired as a producer as he was originally recruited by writer-director Shawn Christensen to "co-direct" the actors and cinematography while Shawn, who starred in the film, was acting and not behind the camera. Andrew performed this creative directing role while also producing the film. Ultimately Shawn did not credit Andrew for his "co-directing" work and instead gave him an "assistant director" credit as well as "producer".
  • Los Angeles, CA (October 2009)
  • Holds the world record as the youngest person to produce an Academy Award®-winning film at the age of 22, which was for the film "Curfew".
  • As a person who went on to have a professional career in the film industry, Andrew is one of the youngest directors to start making films. He started earlier than Steven Spielberg did, who is another one of the youngest people to begin making films. Andrew started his feature action film, "Sledge", at the age of 6 and completed it at the age of 7. He made the award winning documentary "Frank Lloyd Wright & Taliesin" at the age of 8.
  • Started his first LLC at age 8, called Napier Films LLC. He went on to make over 200 film projects including advertisements, corporate promos, events, weddings, short documentaries, short narrative films and a feature documentary before graduating high school.
  • Edits the trailers for most of his films and the films he works on, including "Mad As Hell", "Mary & Bill", "Grandma's Not A Toaster", "The Past is a Grotesque Animal" (edited with Jason Miller), "Wasted Beauty", "Bounce: How the Ball Taught the World to Play", "A Lucky Man", and "Sledge".
  • Wrote and optioned a screenplay, a remake of the 2009 Greek film "Dogtooth", to Mandalay Pictures in 2013.
