Biography

Jessica Spawn is a Dallas-based filmmaker and author who is passionate about sharing PURRpose with others and helping create a "culture of kindness." She is a lifelong storyteller and enjoys engaging with people on various mediums and platforms as she constantly looks for ways to make people laugh!

Her short film "Instagram Cat Mom" takes a peek into the life of the ultimate "PAWparazzi," delivering smiles as well as encouraging a love for kitties! This film was part of the New York Cat Film Festival and has been screened at multiple cat-fests across the US. She believes in collaboration and is passionate about finding ways to help elevate others in her field.

Jessica's skills are varied, and as a tireless producer they are boundless. Her projects display creativity and vision that captivates audiences. She has multiple projects underway and looks forward to independently producing them utilizing the creative financing and unique ways of finding the win/win/win she has adopted working on her short films.

Jessica is extremely active in the Dallas/Fort Worth film community and local festivals. As a Dallas Producers Association member she looks forward to seeing the DFW metroplex collaborate, create, and continue building a film-friendly community and State.

After graduating with a Radio/TV/Film degree from the University of North Texas, she took her knowledge, along with some fellow classmates, and began competing in the 48 Hour Film Project. Her first film, 'Empty Calories,' was disqualified by 5 minutes, however it did go on to KERA's 'Frame of Mind,' as well as won a bronze Remi award from Houston International Film Festival. The second attempt 'Something Borrowed, Someone Blue' won Dallas and went on to the Filmapalooza in Paris in 2017.

Jessica thrives on a challenge and is working on various books to help others navigate the marketing and financing aspects of the industry.

In addition to film, she also enjoys hosting a podcast, writing freelance articles for Catster Magazine, and sharing 'The Christmas Kitten' book with kids and adults alike, spreading the message of PAWsibility. This is her first of many to come and was an International Book Award Finalist in 2017.

Whatever the medium, she is a passionate storyteller and the highlight is making people laugh. Life is tough. She believes laughter, friends, film, & cats is the cure-all combination.
