Martin Scali

Mini bio

  • Martin Scali is a filmmaker. He grew up in Barcelona, studied political science in Paris and cinema in New York.

His latest short film, Canyon (2020) screened at the 2020 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, won the Silver Méliès for best short at the Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival, and secured backing for Scali's upcoming feature debut, Un Prince.

Scali has also directed music videos for Major Lazer, Nicki Minaj, Yael Naim, OrelSan and Stromae. These projects got him shortlisted at the Cannes YDA and the Shots Awards. He directed the official Paris 2024 Olympic Games campaign.

Martin has also been a close collaborator of Wes Anderson since 2007, specifically as 2nd Unit Director on The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), The French Dispatch (2021) and Asteroid City (2023).

The Beast (2023) by Bertrand Bonello, opposite Lea Seydoux, is his first on-camera role.
