Chris Cronin is a UK-based writer-director drawn to grounded genre storytelling.

His debut feature, The Moor, had its world premiere in FrightFest’s First Blood strand, where it won Best Scare at the Total Film FrightFest Awards and received nominations for Best Film and Best Director. Time Out subsequently named it one of the ten best horror films of 2024. The Hollywood News called it "an exceptional feature debut" and placed Cronin "at the forefront of burgeoning genre voices," while Mark Kermode praised its "real visual flair" and "palpable sense of something dreadful approaching." The film secured theatrical distribution in the UK, alongside US and international distribution.

Cronin’s earlier short film Oscar’s Bell gained international festival recognition, winning at HollyShorts, Dead by Dawn and the British Horror Film Festival, as well as receiving Méliès d’Argent recognition. His ultra-short horror film Balcony won the 15 Second Horror Film Challenge, where it was personally selected as the top entry by Lights Out and Shazam! director David F. Sandberg.

His work has screened at festivals including Fantasia, Raindance and the London Short Film Festival, and has appeared on platforms including ALTER, Short of the Week and Omeleto. Collectively, his short films have amassed more than one million views online.

Alongside filmmaking, Cronin has taught production at MetFilm School in Leeds. He is currently developing his second feature as writer-director.
