Randall Courtland Davis

Biography

Randall Courtland Davis

Overview

  • Born
September 25 · St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Mini bio

  • Randall studied public relations at Clark Atlanta University. While there, he landed a paid internship at Warner Brothers International Marketing in Burbank, California. This allowed him to transition into television and film production, starting with Lorimar Telepictures and then as the second assistant to Ilene Chaiken, the President of Quincy Jones Entertainment. One of Randall's responsibilities was to provide written coverage for the numerous scripts received. He also worked in the writer's room as a liaison between QJE and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air for a season. A year later, Randall became the production coordinator for the HBO Martin Show.

After going through a divorce and becoming a single father raising three kids alone, Randall returned to the hospitality industry, where he managed hotels and restaurants - his other passion. Despite this transition, he continued to take screenwriting classes, including Robert McKee's "Story and Structure" class, and focused on honing his craft by reading scripts from diverse genres. His preferred genre for writing is drama. Randall has many stories to tell and is a prolific writer. In 2021, he published his first book, "A Peace of Me: A Black Man's Journey to Love," which he wrote during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, he has authored eight feature films, which include a dramatic musical, a short film, two stage plays, and three original television pilots: one sitcom and two hour-long dramas. Randall has multiple award-winning accolades for screenwriting. Randall's vision is to use film and television to inspire and bring hope to people.
