-A graduate in playwriting from the National Theatre School of Canada in 1996, Olivier Choinière has taken part in over thirty theatrical productions, mainly as an author, but also as a director and designer. He made a name for himself with "Le bain des raines" (1998), nominated for a Governor General's Award, and "Autodafé" (1999), a five-act historical pyre directed by André Brassard. His play "Venise-en-Québec" (2006) was also nominated for a Governor General's Award. "Félicité", first performed at Théâtre La Licorne in autumn 2007, was presented in 2008 at London's Royal Court Theatre, in a translation by Caryl Churchill. The play has since been performed in Scotland, Australia and German-speaking Switzerland. In 2000, he founded 'L'Activité Répétitive Grandement Grandement Libératrice' to present urban B-series summer theater on the terrace of the Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui in Montreal (Canada). In 2002, he staged a meteorological tragedy entitled "Jocelyne est en dépression". In 2003, 'L'ACTIVITÉ' took to the streets with "Beauté intérieure", an audio-guided stroll for one spectator at a time. "Ascension" (2006) took solo walkers to the summit of Mount Royal in Montreal (Canada). Another walk with walkman, 'Bienvenue à - (une ville dont vous êtes le touriste)', has since 2004 been presented in Chicoutimi, Shawinigan, Montreal, Ottawa and Mulhouse, France, in collaboration with La Filature. "ParadiXXX" (2009) featured the dubbing of a pornographic film in front of an audience. In autumn 2010, he directed no fewer than 50 actors in "Chante avec moi", at Espace Libre.In 2009, he directed a short film entitled "Ça va (mine de rien)", which was shown at a dozen festivals around the world. Olivier Choinière was co-artistic director of Théâtre Aux Écuries and founder of 231, bureau d'écriture.
