  • Christine D. Beatty is a writer and producer, known for Poker Queens (2020), Radio Wars (2012) and Myrna (2015).

    A San Francisco Bay Area native, Beatty's diverse and dramatic life experience includes being an honorably discharged veteran, a transgender woman, a former sexworker and recovered addict, a print journalist, author, working musician, screenwriter, producer and software engineer. In addition to a degree in Computer Science, she earned a certificate in screenwriting from UCLA and a degree in Cinema Arts from LA Valley College. In 2011 she helped produce the award-winning documentary Radio Wars (2012). While in film school, she was a co-executive producer of the TV pilot Myrna (2015). In 2019 she produced the documentary Poker Queens (2020) about female poker champions.

  • Before college, marriage and her transition, Beatty received an honorably discharge from the United States Air Force (1977-81) as an aircraft avionics and electronics technician near Phoenix, AZ.
  • She earned an honors degree in Computer Science in 1985 but discrimination kept her from finding work. Since 1989 she has worked as a programmer and software engineer.
  • In 2016 Beatty won the RSE Adapted Screenplay competition for her Action/Sci-Fi adaptation of the William Gibson 1993 bestseller Virtual Light.
  • Beatty co-founded the progressive hard rock band Glamazon in San Francisco in 1994. She was the lead singer and rhythm guitar player who wrote all the lyrics and co-wrote the music. The band toured in California and recorded one CD before Beatty left the band to devote her time to writing in 2002.
