Biography

Chananun Chotrungroj is a director of photography and artist based in Los Angeles. She served as Director of Photography alongside Sandi Sissel on the feature film "Karaoke Girl," which premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2012 and won the "Best Cinematography" award at the Bangkok Critics Assembly Awards. She recently shot "The Edge of Daybreak" 2021 by Taiki Sakpisit, winner of FIPRESCI Prize 2021, "Three Mouths 2022 " by Jared Frieder New York Times Critic's pick and steam exclusively at Paramount Plus. "Palm Trees and Power Lines 2022" by Jamie Dack which won directing award in U.S. Dramatic Competition at Sundance 2022, The Trapped 13: How We Survived the Thai Cave 2022 by Pailin Wedel and "Birth / Rebirth" 2023 by Laura Moss.

While pursuing an MFA in Film at NYU, she was awarded the Ang Lee Fellowship and Department Fellowship and received Nestor Almendros Award for Outstanding Cinematography by a Woman in 2013 and 2015.

Channaun was nominated for the 2020 Independent Spirit Award for Best Cinematography for the feature film "The Third Wife" and won Best Cinematography at the Tribeca 2020 Film Festival for the feature film "Materna."
