Lex was born Alexandra Jocelyn to Jocelyn (Bates) and Jay Helgerson in Oakland, CA. Her family moved to Portland, OR where she attended Jesuit High School. Lex went on to UC Berkeley where despite her smaller stature, she played basketball.
After college she moved to New York City where she became interested in acting. She then moved to the UK to train at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Lex is also an accomplished singer, and performs at venues in and around Los Angeles.
