Biography

  • Ruben Maria Soriquez (AKA Ruben Soriquez) is an award-winning actor, director, and producer. Born in Bologna (Italy), Ruben started as a musician before devoting himself to filmmaking and acting. Ruben studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy, did masterclasses with master directors Giuseppe Tornatore (Nuovo Cinema Paradiso) and Alan Parker (Midnight Express), and studied acting with Actors' Studio of New York's teacher Danny Lemmo and the Colli School of Theatre of Bologna, Italy. As an actor, he has won several awards for portraying a missionary in his film "Of Sinners and Saints" (2015) which depicts poverty and violence on women and children in the Philippines. He gained fame in Asia and Africa after appearing in 88 episodes of a record-breaking prime-time Philippine soap opera. In 2017 he was awarded the Film Ambassador of the Philippines status. As a filmmaker, Ruben loves to craft different aspects of his films: from writing to directing (he is also a member of AIC - Cinematographers Guild of Italy, which has among its member the Academy Award winner Vittorio Storaro) to editing and producing. In 2019 he played mafia gangster Santino Amato in General Commander with Steven Seagal, released by Lionsgate, and directed the acclaimed documentary Pandemiocracy (2021).
