Biography

Think David Cross meets John Malkovich with a smidge of Jason Statham. Lebanese-American actor Marwan Naji, was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria to Druze immigrants.

He is fluent in Arabic, all dialects and Nigerian Pidgin English.

Film/Tv: Marwan joined the cast of the international limited series Flight 422 (2023) as a regular, playing the role of Eyad. The series is streaming on Mbc's Shahid platform and directed by Ashley Pearce.

He is also known for his memorable role on Camp X-Ray (2014) opposite Kristen Stewart, his guest starring role on Fox's show Touch (2012), a supporting role on Rogue Warfare (2019), streaming on Netflix and his revered role as Arab Guide #3 on The Mummy Resurrected (2014). Revered because he crashed the audition session and booked the role.

Voice over: Catch him voicing Tony on Momo's Amerika (2020) and dubbing the characters Tarkan on German Genius (2023) starring Ricky Gervais and Ahmad on Fauda (2015) starring Lior Raz.

Theatre: Marwan made his stage debut in Rest Upon The Wind, playing one of the most beloved characters in history, Khalil Gibran. He performed the play in both English and Arabic.

Accidental writer: His first attempt to write, garnered him a Best Screenplay award at the Indie Short Film, Music & Art Festival in Long Beach. His current feature length comedic screenplay, Basheer Does Amrerica, is ranked in the top 30% screenplays on Coverfly.

[on his first leading role in Franko (2010)] In the process of making this film, I experienced every aspect of film making, from the beginning till the end. I can definitely say that I really enjoyed knowing how it feels to be on the casting side, behind the camera and in front for the matter. Having gone through the process, it's a privilege to me as an actor and director to hear or say the word ACTION.

[on his script Franko] The original award winning script was 22 pages long, but it was cut significantly due to budget constraints.

[on writing Franko] It all started with a vision, a cursor blinking on a blank final draft page and hope. This project came about after a failed audition. The chances of me getting cast in a role of a life time went from slim to none. So, I decided to take a stab at developing my own material. Mind you I've never written before, but I had a clue on how to begin. Thanks to Google.

[on auditioning] Can't live with 'em can't live without 'em. I remember drinking Yerba Mate right before an audition. Caffeine, what a bad move. I felt so anxious when speaking to the point where my tongue felt too large and won't move fast enough in order to make the words come out. The CD thought I was special.
