Biography

Jesse is an award-winning producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. He combines his experience in the studio with his skill as an improvisor to make unique, story-driven music. His home base is Outsider Audio, a retreat recording studio he custom-built in a barn.

He’s composed for television, feature films, documentaries, many commercials, more podcasts, and countless pilots. Music he’s produced and recorded has millions of streams on Spotify.

In Chicago he was the resident musical director at the Second City, where he co-created five revues, all Jeff-Nominated. During that time he also co-wrote, composed, arranged, and musical-directed the unprecedented hit show The Second City Guide to the Opera at Lyric Opera of Chicago, and its follow-up Louder! Longer! Wagner! - in which he also starred as the titular composer.

He won a Jeff Award for his work on Foxfinder and then produced the hit track Permission for Saturday Night Live, featuring Lil Wayne and Future. He's worked with classical musicians, jazz trios, A-List rappers, and produced radio-ready beats and rock/pop tracks for artists and comedians alike.

The lengthy list of people with whom he's made music includes Chris Redd, Aidy Bryant, T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley), Bo Burnham, Sam Richardson, Felonious Munk, Rhymefest, Ugly Duckling, Pete Holmes, Freddie Gibbs, Kyle Mooney, Roy Wood Jr., David Koechner, Renee Fleming, Wic Whitney, Chris Witaske (Free Bert), Tim Baltz (The Righteous Gemstones), Ashley Nicole Black and Talib Kweli for a feature on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and The Lonely Island during the recording of the Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping soundtrack.

He was awarded the 2018 Joseph Jefferson Award for Original Music in a Play for "Foxfinder" at the Interrobang Theatre Project in Chicago, Illinois. He was also nominated for the Sound Design of the show.

He owns and runs a music studio built in a converted barn - Outsider Audio in Southern Illinois.

He is an alum of The Second City in Chicago where he was the Music Director of five original revues. Fellow Second City alumni he worked with there include Martin Short, Keegan Michael-Key, Dave Koechner, George Wendt, Sam Richardson, Tim Robinson, Aidy Bryant, Chris Redd, Tawny Newsome, Cecily Strong, Michael Lehrer, and Vanessa Bayer.
