Biography

Aditya is a writer, director, and cinematographer who started his journey in theatre as a writer-director. He ventured into cinema almost a decade ago working on critically acclaimed projects like the multiple award-winning documentary Gulabi Gang (as Chief Assistant Director) and the magnum opus Jodhaa Akbar (as an Assistant DoP). Aditya went on to work as an Associate Director on the feature film Mantra starring Rajat Kapoor and Kalki Koechlin (available on Netflix). He was selected for the NFDC Directors' Lab 2014 and since then, has had a long run in the Cinematography, Photography and Production departments. He also assisted acclaimed director Rajat Kapoor on two plays: What's Done is Done (based on Macbeth) and I Don't Like it, As You Like it. For the last few years, he has been conducting a unique series of workshops called 'Actioning' for actors and aspiring directors, based on Stanislavski's technique of physical actions. Aditya's short film Sound Proof (2018) starring Soha Ali Khan and Vinay Pathak premiered in NYIFF, won the best film at festivals like OIFFA, IDSFFK and BASAFF, and got an honourable mention in the 2018 Asia South-East Short film festival. The film has travelled to 17 festivals so far and has won awards in five of them. Aditya later directed and co-wrote an 8-part docu-drama podcast series called The BigShots: Dosa King, which was produced by Sikhya Entertainment for Spotify. His most recent released work was a comedy sketch for Filter Copy, which has gained over 12 million views on Youtube. Aditya is currently developing a young adult feature film under the banner of Chalkboard Films, which he is set to direct as well.
