Under his leadership, the studio achieved 16 consecutive years of record earnings and produced hundreds of major motion pictures, including Best Picture winners like Chariots of Fire and Unforgiven, and iconic television series such as Friends and ER.
Following his tenure at Warner Bros., Daly served as the Chairman and CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1999 to 2004. He remains active in the industry as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the American Film Institute (AFI) and a non-executive advisor to Paramount Pictures.

- Movie Note-Taker: While serving in the U.S. Army, Daly spent much of his free time at base cinemas. Although it wasn't part of his job, he developed a habit of taking detailed notes on every film he watched, a practice he continued for years.
- Historical Handprints: In 1999, Daly and his longtime partner Terry Semel became only the second pair of studio executives in history to have their hand and footprints immortalized in cement at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
- The "Gentleman Rancher": At his home in Los Angeles, he maintains a private ranch where he raises a variety of animals, including chickens, sheep, goats, and miniature horses.
- Rapid Rise: He famously started his career at CBS as a teenage office boy/gofer in 1955. Through sheer longevity and performance, he spent 25 years at the network before ever moving to a different company.
