LA Area Emmy-winning Producer/Editor - Independent Filmmaker - Adjunct Professor
Eric Karkheck is an award-winning storyteller whose work spans narrative film, sports, and documentary. He's in post-production on Disconnected, a Rom-Com about two creatives in a strained marriage who escape to a secluded cabin to reconnect with nature, each other, and themselves. The feature-which stars Maria Molund and Tobin Mitnick-explores technology's toll on intimacy with both humor and heart.
As a staff producer/editor at Spectrum Networks, he creates content across three networks: Lakers coverage for SportsNet, Dodgers programming for SportsNet LA, and specials for Spectrum News 1 including Beyond the Sport: Fernando Valenzuela, which won an LA Area Emmy, and The Groundlings 50th Anniversary which earned a Telly Award for directing.
His also an adjunct professor at Woodbury University, where he brings 30 years of production experience into the classroom-from his first internship in 1996 to his MFA training at USC's School of Cinematic Arts, where he interned at Morgan Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment and George Clooney’s Smokehouse Pictures.
His career has been profiled in VoyageLA and Bold Journey, highlighting a filmmaker who builds stories from multiple angles: shooting micro-budget docs, editing for two of LA's most iconic sports franchises, and now directing features that ask audiences to laugh, reflect, and reconnect with what matters.
