Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Justin Hobson is a Los Angeles-based actor, born in Fresno, California. Hobson lived his childhood years with his parents, sister and brothers on a 12-acre property in the mountains near Yosemite National Park. His family had a propensity to collect animals; their pets included a horse, goats, pigs, roosters, chickens, bunnies, hamsters, fish, cats, dogs and birds. The youngest child, Hobson would spend most of his summer days with his siblings engaging in a number of outdoor activities. From playing "Cowboys and Indians" to running bikes around the acreage pretending they were motorcycles and swimming in the nearby creek, he always engaged in activities that nurtured his vivid imagination.

Hobson began attending middle school in nearby Oakhurst, 14 miles south of the entrance to Yosemite National Park. He then moved to Monterey County and attended middle school in the coastal community of Pacific Grove. In seventh grade, he made his stage debut as Daddy Warbucks in the musical production of "Annie." Throughout middle school, history was his favorite subject, which he attributed to his history teacher often performing the personal narratives of key historical figures. His favorite non-academic activity in middle school was sports; playing football, soccer and basketball.

Hobson attended his Freshman year at high school in Pacific Grove, and took his first job when he was 15 years old at Steinbeck's Espresso Bar. Working in the center of historic Cannery Row, he flourished in the environment and loved engaging in the lore of John Steinbeck's novel set during the Great Depression in Monterey, CA. In his Sophomore year, he transferred to Natomas High School in Sacramento. He loved doing well academically in high school, and his scholastic interests helped him find his own unique identity within his large family.

Though he tried to carry forward in sports where he had focused in middle school, athletics took a back seat to a new chapter. It was at his new high school that he met his most inspiring teacher, John Eick, the drama instructor. The inspiration from drama courses created the desire to pursue theatrical acting at a collegiate level. He spent all of his spare time outside of regular school hours rehearsing scenes and building sets for school plays. Those activities gave him some of the richest memories from high school, a highlight being a children's theatre performance as Pinocchio.

Getting accepted into college meant more than the typical sense of accomplishment - Hobson was the first out of his brothers and sisters to go. He was accepted into San Diego State University and relocated to Southern California to pursue his theatre major. It was in college that he discovered the importance of trusting his creative intuition when creating a performance. In the college of Professional Studies of Fine Arts, he served as Artistic Director and President of the oldest on-campus student organization, Skull & Dagger. He also worked as a marketing assistant for the theatre department's Theatre of the World Festival. Hobson graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree as a Theatre major with a Performance emphasis.

Heeding the call of the entertainment industry, Hobson relocated to Los Angeles after graduation and began studying with Eric Hunicutt, Mike Pointer, and Amy Lyndon. He continues to amass acting credits in film, television, web series and commercials.
