  • Carol Albuquerque is a Brazilian writer, journalist, creative producer and nonfiction director working across documentary series and feature films. She currently leads documentary development at Conspiração Filmes, one of Brazil’s leading production companies.

    Her recent work includes documentaries centered on some of Brazil’s most influential cultural figures, athletes and public personalities, including Vinícius Júnior, Marta, Fernanda Montenegro, Dona Onete, Luísa Sonza, Cazuza and Gilberto Gil, in projects developed for Netflix, HBO Max, Universal Pictures and Globo, including Dra. Morte, Rainha de Copas and Marta.

    As creator and screenwriter, she developed the series Abre Alas, nominated for the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro, as well as Jornada Astral and Desnude. She was also one of the creators of Hysteria, a female-led digital platform focused on gender, culture and contemporary behavior, where she was creative director for five years.

    Her work is driven by character-centered storytelling and explores the intersections between culture, identity, fame and contemporary social dynamics. She studied Journalism in Brazil and documentary filmmaking, screenwriting and independent film production at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
