Biography

Dave Lam is a Toronto-based Chinese Canadian cinematographer known for his work in scripted and branded content. Originally on an academic path, he studied Biology and Psychology on a scholarship before pivoting to film, earning two degrees from Ryerson University.

His cinematography has been featured in CSC Magazine, and his projects have earned multiple awards and nominations. With a strong eye for storytelling, he brings a cinematic approach to every project, drawing inspiration from his background in coaching and training Northern Shaolin Kung Fu.

Coming from a family of accomplished academics-his father, Dr. Kim Lam, holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry; his mother, Edith Lam, has a Master's in Computer Science; and his brother, Dr. Christopher Lam, is the Head Radiologist at SickKids Hospital-Dave forged his own creative path in visual storytelling.

He continues to push his craft, constantly evolving as a cinematographer while taking on ambitious new projects.

He has been married to Joann Lee since 2016.
