Biography

Karan was born in Mumbai and took to filming at a young age. His dream was always to be able to direct, and years later here he is, one of India's top ad filmmakers as well as an episodic Director of the web-show Big Girls Dont Cry that premiered on Amazon Prime on the 14th of March 2024. He also Produced this show.

Karan began his association with the film industry soon after he finished college in London. He returned to assist Ram Madhvani, after which he went on to work on a number of Indian and international projects, namely Little Zizou, The Other End of the Line, Luck by Chance, Raavan and Talaash. His very first directorial debut was the Durex ad with Ranveer Singh in 2014. Since then, he has regularly worked with top brands and A list celebrities such as Katrina Kaif, Siddharth Malhotra and Sachin Tendulkar to name a few.

After years of experience and becoming the master of his craft in the ad film industry, Karan is working on extending his spectrum into long format, while spear heading his own production house - Mangata Films. The idea is to tell stories that are relevant, entertaining and have the ability to touch upon the sensibilities of the viewer.

Karan Kapadia also owns a beautiful home in Alibaug and has been associated with it for 20 years. He is an ardent nature lover and has worked with the community in helping the environment to thrive in the best eco-friendly ways. Him and his family have planted more than five thousand trees and have worked towards sustainability and equilibrium with nature. He is a prominent member of the society in Sathir-je and helps towards providing electricity and resources to the local village.

Mångata FIlms is a production house based out of Mumbai, India and has been making films since 2014. It is spear headed by Emmy nominated producer Ashi Dua Sara and one of India's top Ad film makers Karan Kapadia. Mangata have worked with some of India's biggest brands and regularly work with A list celebrities such as Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, Siddharth Malhotra, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Sachin Tendulkar to name a few. The company since its inception has created a unique and most importantly authentic and original voice in its content. Our use of Film craft is extremely versatile and encompasses a style of film making that is edgy yet poetic, classic yet stylized. We present our films in a commercial/mainstream manner, but our endeavor is to create long format cinema that deals with subjects that have social themes that are entertaining and relevant. We believe in the power of cinema and believe it can be used as a vehicle for change even if it brings about the slightest shift in consciousness to our audiences.
