Biography

1981 Secondary school leaving certificate. 1981-1988 apprenticeship as radio and television technician with subsequent employment in the parental medium-sized company, 1988-1990 technical school with graduation as state-certified electrical technician, 1990-1994 member of the Bavarian State Parliament, since 1998 member of the German Bundestag.

Previous activities in the German Bundestag and the Bavarian State Parliament: 1994-1998 Member of the Education and Petitions Committee, 1998-2002 Spokesperson for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Enquete Commission on the Future of Civic Involvement, member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment (rapporteur for space and vocational training), 2002-2005 Member of the Budget Committee (rapporteur for the individual budget of the Federal Ministry of Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture and for space travel) Vice Chairwoman of the CSU parliamentary group, Since 2005, spokeswoman for education, research and technology assessment for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, member of the executive committee of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag.

Honorary offices: Vice President of the Upper Bavaria Regional Association of the German Carnival Federation since 1994, member of the Executive Committee of the Förderkreis Deutsches Heer (FKH) since 2000, State Chairwoman of the BRK Water Rescue Service and member of the State Board of the Bavarian Red Cross since 2001, member of the Board of Trustees of the Deutsches Museum in Munich since 2004.
