Actor and choreographer Jonathan Platero was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. He spent much of his adolescence as a competitive gymnast, developing the athletic foundation that would later define his performance style. After years of intense training, he transitioned into the performing arts, landing his first professional work as an acrobat and actor with Disney. He went on to train extensively in dance, acting, singing, and modeling.
Jonathan first gained national recognition as a top finalist and All-Star on FOX’s hit competition series So You Think You Can Dance (Season 5). Following the show, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he continued building a successful career in dance and choreography. He has worked on So You Think You Can Dance as both an All-Star performer and Salsa choreographer, creating competitive routines as well as large-scale opening numbers.
His choreography credits include major international television productions such as Dancing With the Stars, I Can Do That, Strictly Come Dancing, and Univision’s #1-rated series Mira Quién Baila, where he served as supervising choreographer and producer for all musical numbers. He also choreographed the opening title sequence for Chuck Lorre’s hit television series Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.
As a performer, Jonathan has appeared on international stages dancing alongside artists including Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Pitbull, and others.
In addition to dance, Jonathan has extensive training in the craft of acting and has appeared in television and film projects including S.W.A.T., Will Trent, Glee, Gilmore Girls, and Fran Drescher’s Happily Divorced. He is also one of the Off-Broadway choreographers and performer in the production Blood/Love, continuing to bridge movement, character, and storytelling across stage and screen.
