Andrei Airapetov is a documentary filmmaker, editor, animator, and multimedia artist with over thirty years of experience in film, television, and music projects. He studied Cultural and Educational Work at the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute and later trained in film directing at VGIK in Moscow. He began his career at Armenfilm Studios.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he worked as a director and producer for MUZ-TV and MTV Russia, later collaborating with TNT, NTV, and the Central Studio of Popular Science and Educational Films. He has also directed music videos for Joanna Stingray, Aquarium, Nike Borzov, IFK, Da Budz, and other artists.
His main focus is feature-length music documentaries exploring cultural memory and the history of the Soviet and Russian independent music scene. His films combine archival research, restoration, animation, digital processing, and expressive editing.
