Biography

Marc Riboud was born on June 24, 1923 in Saint-Genis-Laval, Lyon, Rhône, France. He is known for La sixième face du pentagone (1968), Get the Picture (2013) and Ce soir (ou jamais!) (2006). He was married to Barbara Chase-Riboud and Catherine Chaine. He died on August 30, 2016 in Paris, France.

Former president of Magnum photo agency, he published about 15 books of photos and won many prizes.

Brother of former c.e.o. Jean Riboud (-1995) and of Antoine Riboud.

He trained as a mechanical engineer and worked in a factory, taking photos in his spare time. He joined the French resistance at age 17, with active service between 1943 and 1945.
