Biography

For over 14 years, Scott McIntyre has worked at the intersection of cinematography and post-production, building a career defined by technical fluency, disciplined workflows, and story-driven craft.

Scott began as a Toronto-based freelance cinematographer and DOP, honing his visual sensibility in the demanding worlds of advertising and corporate production before transitioning into long-form narrative work. His attention to detail and strong motion-picture aesthetic led to collaborations with internationally recognized brands, and later to sustained work in feature films. He is a two-time Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC) Award nominee and won Best Cinematography at the 2022 NYC Horror Film Festival for Do Not Disturb (dir. John Ainslie).

Since 2014, colour grading and finishing have been Scott’s primary day-to-day practice. He specializes in high-end colour workflows, HDR mastering, and creative finishing for broadcast and long-form content, regularly delivering shows under tight schedules while maintaining consistency across large episode and shot counts. His work commonly spans 1,400-2,200 shots per series, using disciplined pipelines built around DaVinci Resolve, modern HDR delivery, and film-informed colour science.

Scott’s Colourist credits include Dragons’ Den (Season 15-20), Drag Brunch Saved My Life, All-Round Champion, Project Rube, and Making Canada’s Team. He is equally comfortable with traditional correction, film emulation, and contemporary HDR workflows-selecting tools based on story intent and delivery requirements rather than trends.

Alongside his finishing work, Scott continues to shoot narrative projects as a cinematographer, typically completing a feature film every one to three years. This ongoing on-set practice informs his colour work with a deep understanding of lighting design, exposure intent, lens behaviour, and camera systems, allowing him to collaborate fluently with directors and fellow DPs throughout post-production.

Scott is a Full Member of the Colorist Society International (CSI) and has been a member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers since 2015, becoming an Associate Member in 2019. His current focus is high-end finishing, HDR delivery, and scalable remote grading workflows-supporting productions that demand both speed and craft.
