- Raised in London and Accra, Baff Akoto is an artist and filmmaker mentored by J Blakeson, James Hawes, Sir John Akomfrah and the Oscar-winning Asif Kapadia. Starting in documentary, he went on to direct commercials, music promos and broadcast drama for Channel 4 and the BBC. Work for which he was tipped as a Screen International Star of Tomorrow
As an artist he's been awarded the Grand Prix at the 13th Bamako Biennial, the Main Aesthetica Art Prize and the inaugural Chanel Culture Fund x British Film Institute award for Creative Audacity decided by a jury including Tilda Swinton and Edward Enninful.
