Yuri Amaral is a film editor based in São Paulo, Brazil, whose work is primarily focused on documentary cinema. Over the past decade, he has edited more than twenty feature-length documentaries, establishing himself as one of the leading editors of his generation in Brazilian nonfiction filmmaking. His work has received several editing awards, including the ABC Award for Best Documentary Editing for Racionais MC's: From the Streets of São Paulo to the World (2023), Best Editing at Olhar de Cinema for The Voice of God (2025) and Neirud (2023), and Best Editing at Cine PE for Your Turn (2019). His credits include The Passion of JL, My Body Is Political, No Mercy, Elections, and Welcome Back, films that have collectively received numerous awards and screened at major festivals in Brazil and around the world. Interested in the expressive possibilities of editing, Amaral approaches montage as a creative practice that shapes structure, rhythm, and meaning. As his body of work continues to grow and gain international recognition, he remains at the forefront of a new generation of documentary editors working across contemporary cinema.
