Served two terms as Governor of Maryland (1951-1959) and two terms as Mayor of Baltimore City (1943-1947, 1963-1967).
Grandfather of Erick Ziegler.
Married to his wife for 13 years before their first child was born.
His grandson Bryan McKeldin Ziegler (1979-2022) was a prosecutor for San Diego County and ran for city council in 2012 and 2014.
