Biography

Reuben studied film production at the New School University in New York City, where he directed a number of dark and inventive shorts both in narrative and experimental art forms. He was also the organizer and founder of Name in White Films, an experimental film screening event that ran in New York and beyond for a number of years.

After creating a series of micro-documentaries about indie music artists for his web series "The Moment," Reuben engineered a daring feat of gonzo filmmaking by directing and producing an unauthorized feature length documentary about the music festival Bonnaroo. It was at this point when he found love and settled down in Melbourne, Australia where he is now the proud father of two and is primarily a stay at home Dad when not involved in any productions.

His filmmaking efforts didn't stop there, just after his marriage he partnered up with a childhood friend to make an epic sci-fi short film that required a Kickstarter Campaign to be made (over $30,000 raised). This was his first experience with the Melbourne Independent film scene, and now is well and truly thrust thrust deep within it. From here he went on to produce a no-budget zombie feature that led to his most fruitful partnership to date, becoming part of the Mad Alice Productions team. With them he produced 3 more shorts and directed 3 more, one of them being a surreal Western.

As his network grew and the name of Mad Alice Productions was starting to be known they partnered up with another Melbourne based production company, Black Forest Films, which has numerous feature films under their belts. Reuben and the Mad Alice team was roped into helping bring their 6th feature film to fruition (My Cherry Pie) scoring Mad Alice Productions' first feature film attached to them and the start of an incredible relationship that is leading to more feature films down the line.

In Reuben's spare time he fits in editing and recording his podcast, "The Good Beer Bad Movie Night" in which he and his co-host drink craft beers while watching bad movies.
