Born in London to Welsh parents passing through, Ben launched his film career at just sixteen, producing his debut feature Backstreet in 1995 while still studying for his GCSEs. Over the following three decades, he has produced more than twenty features, working across budgets from lean micro-indies to multi-million-pound international co-productions.
Seventeen years after his first feature, Ben stepped into the director’s chair with the London- and Paris-set crime thriller Two Days in the Smoke, starring Matt Di Angelo, Lili Bordán and Alan Ford. Released in the UK in 2014 and internationally as London Payback, the film went on to secure global distribution, including Netflix. He followed it with the Cornwall-set psychological thriller Welcome to Curiosity - the world’s first fully equity crowd-funded feature - starring Amrita Acharia, Richard Blackwood and Stephen Marcus. After a limited North American theatrical run, it was released in the UK in 2018 and is now available on Amazon Prime.
In recent years, Ben has focused on producing, co-producing and line producing distinctive British features, including Red Riding, a modern retelling of the Brothers Grimm classic; the stylish vampire thriller Drained; and most recently The Force, the biopic of boxer Michael Watson, charting the aftermath of his devastating 1991 World Title bout with Chris Eubank.
