  • Robert Kolodny is an Emmy Award winning Director, Writer and Cinematographer, based in New York. His debut feature "The Featherweight" premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival.

    He is the Director of Photography of the Netflix film "Procession" (2021), for which his work was nominated for an Emmy Award. The film was Oscar shortlisted for the 94th Academy Awards and had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival. He is also the Director of Photography "Pavements" (2024) which will premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival.

    He has contributed cinematography to Laura Poitras' "All the Beauty and the Bloodshed" which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award. He has shot on projects for Josh & Benny Safdie, Alex Ross Perry, David Byrne, Sean Price Williams, Cecilia Vicuña and Taylor Mac.

    In 2024 he was awarded the John Schlesinger Award for best director at the Provincetown International Film Festival and the Peter Brunette Award for Best Director at the RiverRun International Film Festival. He was named one of DocNYC's 40 under 40 in 2022. In 2019 he was invited to be a member of newportFILM's Documentary Cinematography Lab and in 2021 the Museum of the Moving Image invited him to give a lecture on visual language in hybrid nonfiction. His direction of the series "Frankie Cooks", won him a New York Emmy Award.
