Biography

Ryan Davy

Biography

  • Ryan comes from a wildlife background filming numerous award-winning films for companies represented by National Geographic and Discovery channel. Having worked with key players in the wildlife genre such as African Wildlife Films and Obsessively Creative, who in themselves have won numerous awards for their works in the wildlife field. Companies that employed Ryan as a key DP to pull together stories to the likes of 'The Kings Pride' 'Tender Killers' and 'Blood Ties'. Ryan's interest in entertaining an audience and building story lines from wildlife footage he had acquired over years of capturing material of predators in the African bushvelt, has led him to take story writing to a whole new level. Creating a diverse yet unique take on a South African version of 'The Last Samurai' with his self funded written, directed, filmed and edited full length feature film 'Lords of Exile'. Since then Ryan has subsequently relocated to Los Angeles, writing, shooting, directing and editing his next Psychological thriller 'The Parricidal Effect' which picked up distribution in 2016 and will soon be available on Itunes. His unique and enthralling stories have been labeled by many a distributor as 'Smart Art House' and has acquired him the reputation of a limitless thrill seeking adventurer. In 2014 Ryan was commissioned to make a film about the controversial Ivory trade in South Africa and embarked on one of the biggest wildlife films of his career. Since his skills as a Pilot, Cinematographer and Anti Pouching Ranger would serve well in a reality style documentary to uncover the truth behind the underground trade of the Rhino Horn. 'The Inner Core' is so controversial in fact that it is still in question by some of the National Geographic representatives as to the repercussions should the film be released. Ryan's positive and tireless energetic personality comes across in all his work weather it be in full length feature films, documentaries or working as a humanitarian with rehabilitation centers and feeding programs such as 'Stop Hunger Now'
