Rod Hill(I)
Rod Hill was born in Accrington, Lancashire, England. As a teenager, he joined Accrington band The Warriors in 1960. Hill stayed with the band until the split up in 1968; the second longest serving member of the band after bassist David Foster. In 1970, Hill and Foster formed the short-lived band, Accrington Stanley, together and played at the very first Glastonbury Festival.
After playing in bands, Hill studied for a teaching degree at the age of 42 and went on to teach electrical installation and education at Blackburn College, Lancashire.
In 2016, the year of his 70th birthday, Hill played a gig - with his band Texas Blues - at the Polar Club in Accrington to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Hill had battled prostate cancer himself.
