- Julian Doan is a Vietnamese-American writer/director whose creative pursuit is inspired by life's mundane and dark absurdities, especially amidst death and grief. His short film Raspberry premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and was released on Showtime and Vimeo Staff Picks. In 2025 he was 1 of 10 directors selected for Indeed/Hillman Grad's Rising Voices program, through which he wrote and directed his latest short, Long's Long Lost & Mini Mart. It premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Festival.
He is in development on his first feature film Half Sweet, which was selected for The 2021 Gotham Week Project Market.
He also works as an editor and is a proud Local 700 assistant editor. Recent credits include HBO's The Sympathizer, The Idol, and In Treatment. He loves rock climbing, video games, and is a recently converted cat fanatic. Seriously, no one told him about cats.
