John Olmsted was born on March 2, 1938 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He was an actor, known for Dill, California (2007), My Father, Who Art in Nature (2012) and The Story of Jug Handle (2014). He died on March 8, 2011 in Nevada City, California, USA.

A naturalist, a docent, and an educator, he sought to create a public-land corridor that would connect a chain of natural landscapes across Northern California.
