Biography

Ricky Alex

Overview

  • Height
    5′ 11″ (1.80 m)

Mini bio

  • In an effort to avoid type-casting, Ricky Alex persuaded his parents to birth a model good-looks, average-Joe-looking, character-type, young man. This wide ranging image has fueled many who have met him to describe him as a cross between Daniel Day-Lewis, Sean Penn, Johnny Depp, George Clooney and Marc Ruffalo.

Unfortunately for him, Ricky has learned that sometimes it's just impossible to avoid being type-casted.

Ricky Alex was born and raised in the surprisingly-further-east-than-expected but very midwest state known as Ohio. In 2005, a friend dragged him out to beautiful Southern California in an effort to save him from a life of marriage, parenthood and a 9 to 5. Once there, Ricky shed his "athlete-only" image to engage in the "arts' and become an "athletic drama geek".

Not unlike another thespian, James Franco, Ricky loaded up his schedule with school credits in addition to living the life of an actor. Luckily, he had a cell phone to take to school with him, which allowed him to attend school and wait for his agent to call at the same time. Attending California State University Northridge earned Ricky a Bachelor of Arts degree and a whopping amount of financial burden, which he plans to repay over the next 15 years.

As a member of Performance Ensemble at CSUN, Ricky contributed to the development of an original production, Mess America, which earned awards, high praise and demands to be continued, following it's weekend long run in 2010. In addition to performance studies at Northridge, Ricky also studied his craft at The Acting Corps, College of the Canyons, Act Now!, and Actors Advantage.

Currently, (01/2011) Ricky is working with his Director (think Robert DeNiro/Martin Scorese relationship) developing an original independent production, continuing in the efforts of CSUN's Performance Ensemble, and auditioning regularly for a variety of projects.
