Nazir Afzal OBE is now a National Director of UK's Crown Prosecution Service and one of its most celebrated advocates. He frequently speaks publicly to large audiences and the media as the Service's ambassador to the communities and regularly in print and broadcast media. He has successfully prosecuted some of the most high profile national and international crimes and influenced the way many serious crimes have been dealt with by other justice agencies. He is the recipient of many awards for his activities including the People's Award which was voted for by readers of a national newspaper.

Director of Crown Prosecution Service (CPS); London West and South. He was honoured with an OBE in 2005 Queen's New Year's Honour's List.

He qualified as a solicitor in Birmingham with Glaisyers who specialised in alleged miscarriage of justice cases. He joined the CPS in 1991.
