Kate Vinen is an award-winning writer and director based in Sydney, Australia. She completed a Graduate Certificate in Directing at AFTRS (2010), and a Masters of Documentary Directing at AFTRS (2018-2020).

Films Kate has directed or produced have screened in film festivals, galleries and biennales in Australia and worldwide. These include Sydney Film Festival (Australia), St Kilda Film Festival (Australia), Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (Japan), DocEdge (NZ), Mardi Gras Queer Screen Film Festival (Australia),The Blake Art Prize (Australia), The John Fries Award (Australia), Dhaka Art Summit (Bangladesh), Les Rencontres International (France), Asia Pacific Triennial 8 (Australia), Tampere Film Festival (Finland), Salento International Film Festival (Italy), Adelaide Shorts Film Festival (Australia), and the Australian International Screen Forum (Lincoln Centre, NYC, USA).

Her recent film, 'Mitayero' (Hunter), was made at the prestigious PlayLab Films Director's Lab mentored by Palme d'Or winning director Apichatpong Weerasethakul in the Amazon Jungle, Peru.
