Biography

Katarzyna Kochany

Mini bio

  • Katarzyna Kochany (DGC) is a member of the Directors Guild of Canada, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. Her work has played on CBC Television (which bought 3 of her films), AppleTV, Amazon Prime Video, Super Channel, Sofy TV, Argo and The BeBop Channel, earning over 60 awards and 250 official selections at festivals, including Oscar-qualifying events such as Durban Film Festival in South Africa, BronzeLens in Atlanta, and Indy Shorts presented by Heartland Film.

Her work often touches on themes of ordinary people being caught in-between: between cultures, between loyalties, between tough choices.

Katarzyna has directed over 40 projects that played at festivals in USA, Canada, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, India, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, South Africa and Kingdom of Swaziland. She was the first Canadian member of Los Angeles-based Alliance of Women Directors.

She directed all season one episodes of the female-led genre show Zahara, which was featured in FORBES, won the IPF Pitch Pit competition, was nominated for Best Digital Series at Blood In The Snow Festival, and Best Low Budget Series at T.O. Webfest 2020.

She directed 2nd unit on the TV series Good Witch (Hallmark/Netflix). She also directed second unit, guest-directed a scene for main unit, and is part of the producing team on the narrative feature film drama, The Marijuana Conspiracy, inspired by a true 1972 disturbing human experiment on a group of young women. The film has been picked up for distribution by Samuel Goldwyn Films and released on Hulu.
