Biography

Lynne Abrahams and Iris Long, plus an unknown, started as the Iris Long Trio for a year, then became The Lana Sisters. In 1958, they advertised for a replacement for the unknown member and Mary O'Brien, who called herself Shan, applied on the strength that she had played in London clubs with her brother Dion (who would later become known as Tom Springfield of The Springfields). Their hits included Seven Little Girls Sitting in the Back Seat. They were the only support act on Nat King Cole's London date at the New Apollo Victoria. Later, when they were playing in Taunton, Mary kept disappearing, then at the end of the week, she said she was leaving and joined Tom and Tiim Feild in forming The Springfields. Iris later joined two others and formed The Chantells
