A two-time Emmy Award-winning songwriter (and four-time nominee), William "Bill" Schermerhorn has established himself as a creative force behind some of the most acclaimed live and televised events in the United States, including the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (1983-2015) and the dazzling 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular (1983-2015). In addition to developing material and staging for large-scale production, Bill is also a producer, playwright, author, event host, guest lecturer, and keynote speaker.

Following his years at Macy’s, Bill served as Creative Director of Signature Events for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, where he combined storytelling and event experience with the traditions of the 18th century (2015-December 2024). As of January 2025, he has served as Event Designer for the American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250), shaping Virginia’s Semiquincentennial productions to tell the complete story of America’s founding; He oversaw the national Semiquincentennial PBS telecast of "America Made in Virginia: 250 Years Together" (July 4, 2026) as credited Producer, Artistic Director and Writer.
