Partnered with Aristotle Onassis to build Olympic Tower (1971), 51-story a residential/commercial building across from St. Patrick's Cathedral, and with Ian Schrager in creating some of the first boutique hotels in New York City; they also acquired and renovated the Royalton Hotel, the Paramount Hotel, and the Barbizon Hotel.
  • In 1998, federal authorities charged that a savings bank Cohen owned in Virginia was illegally funneling money to dubious construction projects in New York. He paid $4.5 million to resolve the case without admitting guilt.
  • His Arlen Realty and Development Corporation operated in 39 states and bought, sold, developed or managed a vast array of shopping centers, office buildings, apartment houses, and a planned community in Florida during the 1970s.
