Moses Stone is an American recording artist, rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, and actor. He was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Prince George's County, Maryland, by his Jamaican father, Moses Haughton Sr., and his American mother, Renita R. Lattimore.
Stone began engaging with music at the early age of six, inspired by his older cousin who introduced him to rap. As a child performer, he gained early recognition under the stage name "Young Moses," appearing on BET's 106 & Park and MTV's Say What? Karaoke, winning audience competitions. His commanding stage presence also earned him a spot on Showtime at the Apollo, and he performed at local festivals, nightclubs, and benefit concerts across the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area.
A graduate of Laurel High School (class of 2004), Stone later moved to Los Angeles to attend the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where he studied a variety of genres including hip hop, pop, jazz, funk, and electronica. During this time, he also interned at Universal Music Group Distribution, eventually rising to project manager, working across several major labels and gaining valuable industry experience.
Stone made national headlines in 2012 as the first-ever rapper/singer hybrid contestant on NBC's The Voice, where he was a member of Christina Aguilera's "Team Xtina." He performed in the show's first live round, was mentored by music icon Lionel Richie, and appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno that same year. Following the show, Stone released his debut single "My Moment" and performed live on Showtime Championship Boxing at California's Home Depot Center.
As a solo artist and producer, Stone has released multiple projects, including the mixtapes The Audition, Resilient, and Resilient 2, as well as albums such as Young Moses (2004), Warrior (2015), and Soon You'll Understand (2017). His music has been featured on major TV networks including MTV, VH1, and Oxygen, with placements on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Bad Girls Club, and My Super Sweet 16.
In addition to his music ventures, Stone has also appeared as an actor on television. Notably, he had a guest role in the hit Nickelodeon series Game Shakers, where he portrayed the character Hatchit in Season 2, Episode "Babe's Bench" (2016), bringing his signature charisma to the screen and further showcasing his range as a multifaceted entertainer.
In 2015 and 2016, Stone partnered with McDonald's as the official ambassador for their national "Summer & Lovin'" and all-day breakfast campaigns. In 2019, he became the face and voice of McDonald's rebranded Black & Positively Golden campaign. His anthem "We Golden" served as the movement's theme song, premiered at the NAACP Image Awards, and was recognized as the highest-rated commercial among African American audiences in over 16 years.
Stone is the founder and CEO of Art Sky Entertainment, Art Sky Productions, Art Sky Agency, and Haughton Ventures Inc., which he established to produce creative projects and support entrepreneurship and empowerment in minority communities. In addition to his music career, he continues to act, perform, and engage in philanthropic efforts supporting youth empowerment and social causes through music.
