At the age of 20 Sam directed his first music video, while working as an assistant editor at a post production house in Wellington, New Zealand. The video was well received and gained national airplay.

Sam is now based in Auckland, New Zealand.

He is also a past national winner of The Otago Daily Times NZ Poetry Awards for 'Tomorrow' (2006).
