- Paul was born and spent his childhood in Northwestern Washington State. His family then relocated to rural Iowa, where Paul graduated from high school. After college, Paul started a small production company in Kansas City before relocating to Des Moines.
After his viral hit "Iowa Nice," his filmmaking team became a standard bearer for Des Moines' ongoing cultural renaissance. He went on to create 2 national commercials, 36 original spots for ESPN, and regular creative content for their Youtube channel, which has received 3.8 million views. He returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2016.
Paul is a leader for creatives, speaking the language of actors, designers, and technical crew. From docs and scripted features to national commercials, Paul has extensive experience shepherding a narrative from start to finish, ensuring that the myriad of small choices result in a compelling, emotionally resonant story.
Recent projects include Saving Sophie, an intimate five-hour docuseries following a GenX couple's leukemia journey, and Kinnick (2022, Amazon, Apple TV), a dynamic feature documentary about the life of a depression-era college football hero and WWII veteran.
